::A Botswana Update:: Highways & Byways

Greetings from a sunny and COOL Botswana! This is my favorite time of year. For a couple of months we wear our long sleeves, sweaters and sweat shirts. We enjoy cozy fires on the fireplace and hot coffee on cold mornings. It’s a great time to visit Africa!

Castner Cronicles – Michelle Castner

Greetings from Botswana! I hope all of you had a good Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a traditional turkey and dressing meal with all the trimmings. Of course, when you are living in a foreign country you have to be a little more creative about some of our traditional dishes. You can’t always find the same ingredients and you learn some pretty interesting substitutions!

Michelle Castner – Castner Chronicles

Greetings from Africa! As I am writing this, today we have completed 6 months here in Botswana! The time has flown by and as I look back on these months I can see that the Lord has been faithful to us in so many ways.

Michelle Castner – The Castner Chronicles

Greetings from Botswana, Africa! We have completed our first week here in Francistown. It’s hard to believe that we are finally here after months of travel and planning!

Michelle Castner – The Castner Chronicles

Greetings from North Dakota! We are enjoying the fall weather here in the very northern part of our country. The weather is holding up so far and we are almost to the end of our travels! We are hoping to be back in PA by the middle of October.

Michelle Castner – The Castner Chronicles

It’s been almost two months since we pulled out of the church parking lot. We have already traveled thousands of miles, been in many of the beautiful states that we enjoy in our great country, and have had the privilege to be in some very special churches and visit some of the Lord’s greatest servants!

Michelle Castner – The Castner Chronicles

It is hard to believe that the year is quickly drawing to a close. We will have spent 7 months of 2011 right here in the United States! As I reflect back over these months, I find that the Lord has been very faithful to us.

Michelle Castner – The Castner Chronicles

I can’t believe we have been here for 4 months already! It has been a very blessed 4 months spiritually and physically. You have all been so kind and helpful to our family as we have made our adjustments to being back in the States. I think that most of the culture shock is wearing off, although a part of that never goes away. That may be hard to understand (I don’t always understand it) but I think that some of it has to do with the fact that somewhere in the future we will have to say good-bye again and the Lord helps us prepare for that by not letting us feel completely “at ease”.

Michelle Castner – The Castner Chronicles

The definition of joy is “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness that does not necessarily rely on our circumstances. Joy is a fruit of the Spirit that the Lord expects us to cultivate. (Gal.5:22-23) True joy stems from our relationship with the Father and the Son. “…and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.” (I John 1:3-4)
