Fearfully & Wonderfully Made

Today I had to go to my chiropractor. I went into the room where I was directed and was told she’ll be in in a few minutes. So I waited patiently. I started looking at the pictures of the human body on the wall. There was one describing the bones of the body. Front and back and each one was given a name. Then I went to the next one which was the muscles of the body. Again, front and back with each given a name. There is also one describing the nerves of the body.

It struck me how well God put us together.  It is amazing how he arranged the body in such a way that as a whole each entity works together to allow us to move, breathe, close our eyes, blow our nose, eat and drink, pick up things, bend over, jump, run, think, and so much more. He even gave us a way to get rid of waste and to perspire to cool off our body. When we think about it, we should thank God in earnest for his creativity in creating us!

There was no big bang that could possibly come close to the wonder of God. In the book of Psalms it says,

“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”Psalm 139:13-14

I know that when I read this verse I know that I am not deserving of this gift.  Some days parts of my body don’t work the way I want them to; sometimes I even have pain. But God has also given me a way to manage that pain.  I know that I need to pray more with thankfulness in where God has put me.

As I visit my mom in the hospital I definitely see how fragile and how precious life is.  Be thankful for being marvelously and fearfully made.

  1. Thank you for the reminder that I, no matter how my physical body aches at times, I owe God all of the gratitude for HE is worthy!
