Kristin Hammett – Village Vista

By Kristin Hammett

Dear Ladies,

What we’ve been up to…

We began our traveling the end of June. For deputation, and our last furlough, we had a travel trailer. So traveling with just a minivan was new to us. While both ways have their pros & cons, we had a good trip. This particular trip, we were in Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and Ohio. Along the way we were able to spend a week with each set of grandparents. It always works out nicely when you have supporting churches nearby family. This was special as none of our family in the Midwest had met Luke yet!  We have lots of memories and pictures were captured.

We hope we were as much of a blessing to the churches we were in, as they were to us. Over the years we’ve made friends in many of these churches. It is good to be able to reconnect with people all over the US, and to meet new friends. The children were quite overwhelmed socially last furlough, but this year it was a different story. Again, God’s grace was very evident. They couldn’t wait to meet new friends at new churches. 🙂

We always love Colorado Springs, CO. It’s such a beautiful place. We weren’t sure if we’d be able to go with all the wildfires they had. When we arrived, they had it mostly contained, but we could still see the smoke. We saw much of the devastation. We were also able to take a train ride up Pike’s Peak.

Before George started planning meetings in Africa, we penciled in the days we wanted to be back at our home church for. One of those was VBS. What fun it was for the kids to be able to be in VBS for the first time officially! I’m so thankful for George’s sensitivity to those special things for our family!

Then this past weekend, George & Joel went to OH for a couple meetings. I think they really enjoyed the time together. Anna was concerned about what Joel was going to do when dad was preaching. She asked me with big eyes, “Is he going to sit by…by… himself?!”

What’s ahead…

August 6th, we will all leave for a trip up north to Minnesota and North Dakota.  We hope to meet up with the Kuzels at some point, as they are also home on furlough. We’ll return to LVBC the end of the month and then it will be school time already!

George is still busy filling in the remaining dates for the Fall schedule. There are many on the west coast, and southwest meetings that he will most likely be flying to.

It has been good to reconnect here at our home church. We are blessed with sweet fellowship and rich preaching from God’s Word. Thank you LVBC for everything!

Love, Kristin
