I trust that you all had a blessed Thanksgiving holiday. The Gable family sure did. We were able to have all five of our children together around the table this year. With 15 of us this is getting more and more difficult. We were especially thankful that Sarah and her husband were willing to drive over 10 total hours to make that happen.

“Exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” — that verse in Ephesians sums up our recent holiday week!!!! It seems that every blessing came in duplicate. Our daughter Sarah told us they could come to PA for Thanksgiving, but only for a couple of days the beginning of the week so we gathered our crew, now DOUBLED instead of our original “House of the Seven Gables”

The last two months have been somewhat uneventful around the Gable household and Haven Baptist Church. (In saying that I am not complaining nor discounting the blessing of faithful, stable members and visitors). The greatest blessing was the addition of 17 year old Austin Stump to our membership. He sure has a heart for the things of the Lord and could use your prayers as he grows in the Lord and attends Pottsville High School.

We are excited to report some great things are happening on the mission field of Schuylkill County! After months of Bible studies that Nathan and Alan Noecker have had with Austin Stump, he has completed his written testimony (which my husband required of him) and I am so pleased to tell you that he is scheduled to get baptized in the Noecker’s pool this Sunday (Aug 5th) after our Sunday morning service. We will follow that encouraging step of obedience with a church potluck picnic.

Wow, has the month of April and May just flown right by. The highlight for the Gable family was the marriage of our middle daughter Sarah to Justin Couch the last Friday in April. We prayed for months that it wouldn’t rain since the ceremony would take place on the shore of Schuylkill County’s Sweet Arrow Lake. God answered our prayers (only a few drops of drizzle on the way to the early morning decorating and rehearsal). We didn’t however pray about the temperature or the wind; it was quite cold and windy.

“What shall I render unto the LORD for ALL his benefits toward me? O LORD truly I am thy servant; …. I will offfer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving and will call upon the name of the LORD.”

The Lord has been good to the folks at Haven Baptist Church these last two months. We are rejoicing in the fruit of visiting FAMILIES.

This is the second time in a row that I am writing an update for this paper in which the weather is in the forefront of my thoughts – Last time we had weeks of cold and rain and this time it’s been the heat and draught. Finally some relief – a little rain has fallen today before I sat down to write. Praise the Lord!!

Wow, Praise the Lord!!! I have awakened to the sun shining in my window this morning; a sight we haven’t seen in, I think it has been weeks!!! While according to my local weather man this is the second wettest spring in my lifetime (3rd wettest in 100 years) it doesn’t mean that the SON can’t be shining brightly in your life in the midst of the drab and the deary.
