What time is it?

On our recent return to Thailand, we found some things in our house broken down and needing to be repaired. Actually, to be honest, it felt like everything needed some TLC. ☺ But one of the things that really wasn’t working at all was our kitchen clock. We tried changing the battery but the clock just wouldn’t work, much to my disappointment. I’m pretty sure we’ve only had the clock for six months! So I decided to take the clock off the wall and replace it with a framed verse of scripture I brought back from the States.

Now most people are creatures of habit, including us. Do you know how many times without thinking I would look at the wall to see the time? Countless times! And every single time I looked at the wall to see what time I was, I encountered the verse I had hung earlier: “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

How appropriate!

What time is it? It is time to “be still and know that He is God.” What a great way to put scripture before my eyes, especially as we jump back into ministry in Thailand. We’ve been back home for a month and this verse has become a sure foundation for me over the last few weeks. Plenty of problems have tried to chip away at that foundation (being told we need to move, starting homeschool, a dear friend having her baby 8 weeks early, visa challenges... etc.), BUT the word of God does not change. He is God and that is always a timely thought!

  1. Anne,
Thank you for the “timely” reminder. A former student sent me a shirt with this verse, and it fits our life at the ranch. We are experiencing some crazy attacks, and I keep asking God “How long? When will you take care of this?” The answer is “be still and know that I am God.”

I am praying for you and your family as you settle in.
