For me, it’s red velvet cheesecake, bacon-wrapped dates, and a brand new journal. Maybe for you, it’s a new pair of heels and chocolate-covered strawberries. Or maybe it’s a caramel macchiato and a teddy bear holding chocolate bon-bons.

What is the perfect gift that says to you, “I’m thinking of you”? What little gesture or gift means the world to you?

Too many women (single or married) dream of being wooed and spoiled with trinkets and treats, then are disappointed when they are given gingham dishcloths instead of gourmet chocolates. Wouldn’t it be nice if a man could read our thoughts and buy that expensive dress for us that we keep glancing at so obviously? No human, however doting, can live up to your expectations in this area.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think… – Ephesians 3:20

Unlike the human male specimens who are limited by finances and the inability to read minds, there is Someone who can see your wistful thoughts and has the unlimited resources to fulfill those wishes for you. And oh my, what goodness He bestows!Verse-background

Ever find the perfect shoe on clearance, and the last pair remaining was your size? Ever discover a new coffee shop right near your house? Ever receive a surprise visit from a friend on a grumpy day? Did you ever stop to consider that it is God Himself that provided those gifts to you?

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above. – James 1:17

There are no boundaries to the good things that God gives to those who delight in Him. There’s no “maximum fill” line on you; God will keep giving you good things because He Himself is good.

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. – Psalm 37:4

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? – Matthew 7:11

If you think a man could give you nice things, just you wait and see what God has in store!

…they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. – Psalm 34:10

If you seek God, you will not have any shortage of blessings.

…the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. – Psalm 84:11

There is, however, a caveat to this benevolence. Just like you wouldn’t expect a complete stranger to spoil you with wonderful gifts, there must first be a relationship between you and the God who delights in giving. Taking that a step further, you must also be actively seeking God’s face and walking according to His Word. Lastly, ask. Request these good things from the hand of God who wants to give them.

When God does bless you, don’t forget to thank Him and gush about His goodness to others.
