Tomorrow

Tomorrow

She was going to be all that a mortal could be —
Tomorrow;

No one would be kinder nor braver than she—
Tomorrow;

A friend who was troubled and weary she knew
Who’d be glad of a lift and who needed it, too;
On her she would call and see what she could do—
Tomorrow.

Each morning she stacked up the letters she’d write —
Tomorrow;

And she thought of the folks she would fill with delight —
Tomorrow;

It was too bad, indeed, she was busy today,
And hadn’t a minute to stop on her way;
“More time I would have to give another,” she’d say —
Tomorrow.”

The greatest of workers this woman would have been —
Tomorrow;

The world would have known this had she ever seen —
Tomorrow;

But the fact is she died, and she faded from view,
And all that she left here when living was through
Was a mountain of things she intended to do—
Tomorrow.
