Kristin Hammett – Village Vista

Jeremiah 15:16  Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

I love this. While discussing this in Sunday School one week, my husband asked the question: What part of  God’s Word would Jeremiah have had at that time? The Old Testament Law, History, and some of the Psalms.  Now, I don’t know about you, but the books of the Law and History in the Bible are not usually the first place I turn in the Scriptures when going through a difficult situation. It struck me deeply that Jeremiah found joy and rejoiced in those because they  tell us about Jehovah God: Who is His and What He is like.

2 Peter 1:2  Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

Recently it has been a desire and treasure to read through some of these OT books with the goal to see God woven throughout and to know Him more deeply; not what we think He’s like; or what it seems that He’s like by our experiences or our observations. Our concept of Who God really is most certainly to be based on something deeper. He has overwhelmed me with His goodness – especially when you start keeping a list!

Psalm 68:19  Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

We continue on our travels to visit the churches we need to this trip. We are so grateful for the rest and refreshment to be home with our family and church.  We are enjoying the opportunities the Lord gives to us to serve Him. The children are enjoying the opportunity to be in the Christian School.  Though they have expressed that they look forward to finishing the school year homeschooling back in Africa. 🙂
