We are excited to report some great things are happening on the mission field of Schuylkill County! After months of Bible studies that Nathan and Alan Noecker have had with Austin Stump, he has completed his written testimony (which my husband required of him) and I am so pleased to tell you that he is scheduled to get baptized in the Noecker’s pool this Sunday (Aug 5th) after our Sunday morning service. We will follow that encouraging step of obedience with a church potluck picnic.
The attendance of our visitors has also been a real encouragement to all of us at HBC. While we were in Ohio visiting our Sarah, the Ould family had a July 4th picnic and invited the rest of the church family to come to their home. Austin’s dad, Russ, has been a faithful attender along with Vince and Joanie (our Sunday PM regulars for quite some time). We have seen a new family, the Stauffers, make a 45-minute drive to visit with us the last two months. They are trying to get a house within about 20 minutes of our church in Pine Grove. It’s great to have more little ones around the church; they have 3 children under 10 years of age.
I need to thank those folks who have prayed for HBC in recent months especially the Jochabed Ladies. God is really answering your prayers BIG TIME! Keep praying for Nicole McCabe and her family as circumstances have brought them back to our county again. Nicole works with my Rachel, but they keep scheduling her during church hours. Her family needs the finances as her Dad is out of work, but she needs to be in church more. We have had the missionary ladies praying for HBC’s finances, which nose-dived during May & June and God was faithful there as HE had a large contribution come in during July which has brought us back to the surface again. We are used to depending on God to keep us treading water, but it was a bit scary to feel like we were drowning for two months.
As far as outreach is concerned, my husband got a great opportunity to preach to a funeral home full of folks last week. Joanie’s husband’s sister invited Pastor to preach her husband’s funeral after he gave him the gospel about 10 hours before he passed into eternity. Wayne was in and out of consciousness that morning so we don’t know his heart. Pray for Ida, the widow, and her brothers Ron and Dave (Joanie’s husband). Neither of the 3 siblings go anywhere to church. Ron was a visitor to Haven back when we first started the church and Dave told us he hasn’t been back to his Baptist church (a distance away and he lives in Pottsville) for over a year. May God use Wayne’s battle with cancer to work in their hearts to show how life is short and we need to be where God wants us to be.
Another great answer to prayer!! Nathan has gotten a full-time position that pays a livable wage at the Walmart Distribution Center. He is praying that this will not only help him get on his feet financially, after 3 years of college, but that something in the accounting field would open up while he has his foot in the door. Meanwhile he continues to serve the Lord leading singing and working with Austin, and he even takes a turn in the nursery. Rachel is preparing to attend EBA for her senior year. I can’t believe I am finished homeschooling after 13 years!!! I still have lots of books and supplies I would love to get homes for. If you know anyone that needs books (mostly Abeka and BJU) just give me a call.
