Not All Good Things Must Come To An End

Not All Good Things Must Come To An End

By: Nina R. Hall

The fellowship of friendship

The laughter and the fun;

The moments in our life that make

The long race worth the run

The precious gift of family

The smiles, the jokes, the hugs

Are what we find we live for;

It’s how we know we’re loved.

But, you know what they say,

That all good things must end

That nothing lasts forever;

On naught we can depend

The people we’ve grown close to

Must sometimes part their way.

The sweet times end, when scarce begun;

How we wanted them to stay!

And all of life is like that,

At least, the things on earth;

But for the child of God

Who has experienced new birth,

There is special secret;

A truth that is for sure.

There’s something good that will not end,

A promise that’s secure:

We have a home in glory

Beyond the heavenly blue,

And there in perfect bliss abide

Our fellowship renew.

It quietly awaits us,

Beyond our weary way

Calls to our remembrance

A brighter land one day.

And that will last forever,

It’s the only thing that will.

Not all those good things need to end,

There’s a place they’ll go on still.

Joy will be eternal;

Never more we’ll part.

Circled ’round the throne of Grace,

Never to depart.

Ponder this, when dark days come

And thoughts are sad and lonely.

When happy moments take their flight:

There is a great day coming!

Rest in this when rings the cry

That – ‘Nothing lasts forever!’

For we have hope eternally,

And joy that none can sever.

I Thessalonians 4:17-18 “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
