Psalm 116:12,16,17-

“What shall I render unto the LORD for ALL his benefits toward me?  O LORD truly I am thy servant; …. I will offfer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving and will call upon the name of the LORD.”

The Lord has been good to the folks at Haven Baptist Church these last two months.  We are rejoicing in the fruit of visiting FAMILIES.  Right now we have three consistently visiting families —   the Macabe’s, Oldt’s, and Russ & his son Austin.  Please keep praying  as none of them has asked about joining as of yet.

I am looking forward to our quarterly pot luck dinner and nursing home service on the 18th- perhaps we can get some of our visitors to stay around that day as it always is a great time of  fellowship for our little group!!

The Gable family very much appreciates the folks up here at Haven.  Last year to show our appreciation for their faithfulness to the Lord and  to our church we provided Christmas breakfast for all our folks.   We had such a great time that we decided to do it again.  This year Chrsitmas, as you know, is on Sunday which makes things even more special!!!

Some of  you may remember my sister Amy (she was a member of LVBC 16 years ago). She has been a single Mom all these years.  She recently met a man currently serving in the Navy and as she put it “I want to do things right this time.”  Well she decided to get married on a cruise ship and asked my husband to walk her down the aisle and for both of us to serve as witnesses.  I have wanted to go on a cruise since before I was saved, even booked passage twice but had to cancel in deference to purchasing our first house and then our first child was due a month after the second cruise was scheduled.  Well to make a long story short, the Lord provided for my husband and I to book and actually GO on our first cruise 31 years later.  God sure knew what He was doing as we have so much more appreciation for the week of relaxation and pampering now after raising 5 children.  We had many opportunites to witness, give out tracts, and pray for our meal with 6 different people at our table each night.

It was a vacation that far exceeded all we could have hoped and prayed for- not perfect as we did need to use discretion in our choices with the entertainment  provided – we found out that the ship was huge and it was fairly easy to stay away from things that didn’t glorify the Lord.

The church service on Sunday morning was actually much better than we expected-  what was preached was Biblical and spoke to our hearts.  We stuck around a few minutes after and found out the spreaker (cruise director) was from Wales and we told him how LVBC could trace our roots as a church back to Wales and he shared how they studied about Baptists in school.  We thanked Chris for the message and gave him a tract since we couldn’t be certain he was saved– interesting how God can use even use lost men to deliver His message.  I could tell you all so much more about our week in the Southern Carribean but suffice it to say the Lord used our free time to show us just how blessed we truly were.

Our battteries are recharged and I believe we might be having to use that spiritual energy to face some possible trials ahead. Please pray for HBC concerning finances for 2012 and also for my family especially for my mother, who will be getting an MRI  on December 3rd to test for Dementia/Alzheimer’s disease.  To me there is no more scary diagnosis than that (cancers, strokes, and heart attacks come in a close second).  Interesting that my husband just started a series of messages on fear-  God sure does provide above all we could ask or think!!!!!

Thanks for all your prayers and support especially to the Esther Ladies- I can’t believe our year together is almost over.

Love in Christ,

Your sister- Sue Gable

P.S. If you could also remember my daughter Jen and grandson due in February.  She is high risk- lots of ultrasounds and Dr visits, but  praise the Lord she is doing well so far.
