Resting

A holy hush falls o’er my heart,

The snow is falling outside, muffling the world.

The glow of the dancing flame lights my room

And kindles a warm rush of thankfulness within my soul.

Surrounded am I by blessings,

Given to me by a King.

Thankful am I for all His love brings:

Joy and sadness, trouble and trial,

Triumph and gladness;

His hand has brought it all.

Handpicked for me are my sorrows and my joys;

His love would serve me in no other way.

The path I must tread is marked by signs of His love,

Guideposts of His wisdom;

And I enjoy His presence all the way.

My life, and all that it consists of,

Furnishes my offering to the One that holds

My life in His hands, my heart close to His.

Blessed am I, how very blessed are we.

This night His Spirit passes o’er your heart.

You know He is and that He calls unto you.

He whispers to your very heart, “Come unto Me.”

Won’t you still your busy heart

And calm your distressed mind,

And allow His voice to ring clear,

To overpower the doubts in your soul;

To dispel the hopeless gloom?

Shine, oh, shine upon hearts, thou blessed Word of God:

“Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth:

For I am God, and there is none else.”

Comfort the weary hearts, oh, Wonderful Word of God:

“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden,

And I will give you rest.”

Sweet rest, blessed rest;

Sweet life, wonderful life;

How very blessed am I;

How very blessed are we.
