7 Myths Common to Teen Girls Busted By the Word of God

Myth: “God Is Not Enough”

Busters: God Is All We Need

Psalm 73:25 “Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.”

Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

 

Myth: “I’m Not Powerful Enough to Fight Satan”

Busters: Satan’s Powers Are Insurmountable to God’s

James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Ephesians 6:16 “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

Romans 12:21 “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

 

Myth: “Pretty Girls Are Worth More”

Busters: Beauty Shines from Those Who Know Their Worth in Jesus Christ

I Peter 3:3-4 “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”

I Timothy 2:9-10 “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.”

I Samuel 16:7c “… for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”

 

Myth: “I Need a Boyfriend”

Busters: The Love Search Needs to Rest for Now

Song of Solomon 2:7 “I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he [God] please.” Repeated in 3:5 and 8:4

Psalm 39:7 “And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.”

 

Myth: “I Can’t Control Myself When I’m PMS-ing”

Busters: With Christ’s Help I Can Endure Anything

II Corinthians 10:5 “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

II Corinthians 12:9-10 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Matthew 12:36 “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.”

 

Myth: “I Need to Have a Career to be Successful”

Busters: Success Is Found In Being Who God Wants You to Be

Proverbs 31:10-31 “Virtuous Woman” aka: Woman of Character:

-She’s trustworthy

-She’s hardworking & works with her hands

-She’s thrifty (spends money wisely)

-She’s concerned with the needs of others

-She’s physically strong (not lazy)

-She’s a perfectionist (takes pride in her work)

-She’s a giver

-She’s respectful of older women & wants to learn from them

-She’s more concerned about her walk with God than her outward appearance

Titus 2:4-5 “…the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

 

Myth: “I’m My Own Boss”

Busters: Authority Is God’s Protection

Hebrews 13:17 “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”

I Samuel 15:23 “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.”

I Timothy 2:2, 11, 12 “For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty…Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.”

 

Don’t be deceived by Satan’s myths! Compare your thoughts often with the Bible – you may find yourself busted!
