Sue’s December Update

Dear Ladies,

As I reflect on the upcoming Christmas season, I believe that the Lord has led me to think about God’s messengers- the angels.  Luke 2:9-10; “And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them ( the shepherds), and the glory of the Lord shone round about them and they were sore afraid.  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” Of course the angels were announcing the birth of Jesus our wonderful Savior, for which I am ever so thankful.

I have been reflecting on how God has used certain people over the years since LVBC has started HBC and I thought I would take a few moments to tell you about them.  This season may I encourage you, as Paul did all of us in Hebrews 13:1-2, to “Let brotherly love continue.  Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” I believe this to be true at Haven Baptist Church over the years.  I can think of at least 3 different men who God sent to our church; men who were sent to us for only a few months or at the most a year or so.  They were men sent to our area for temporary job assignments, or as the first man who came to our area every Sunday from the Philadelphia area, to try and reach some of his family members in our area.  Our people rose to the occasion and welcomed these men into their homes and we were all blessed tremendously.  They have helped our church’s spirit and some were used of the Lord to be of tremendous financial assistance to the church as well.  By the way, we’ve also had several anonymous angels from LVBC that God has mightily used over the years, more than they’ll ever know, to be a great blessing to us as well.

Thanks to all of you ‘angels’ that have faithfully prayed and given to the Haven Baptist Church; you’ve all fulfilled the role of being “angels unawares” in your own special way (at times unaware to you yourself and at times unaware to us).

Thank you from myself personally and from the members of Haven Baptist Church corporately; only the Lord knows the ultimate results of your angelic faithfulness.

May God continue to use all of you for His marvelous purposes.

Love and God’s riches blessings to you,

Sue Gable
