As I write this I have just returned home from one of the most jam-packed days of all my Christian Life. 🙂
It started off extremely early with a send off breakfast for our week long guests – our Bible Conference speaker Pastor Mick and his wife Karen. We had a super busy, massively profitable week of meetings and if you want to hear more about this slightly crazy preacher just ask ANY teen from LVBC– next my husband was off to set up display tables for Schuylkill Haven Borough Day ( 9 hours of getting our church name and Gospel materials out in front of literally thousands of folks); while he was doing that I spent a few hours catching up at home followed by getting ready for a wedding my husband would perform at 1:00– What an opportunity for us to share Christ with many lost family members of Jon and Angela S. — This couple was married in the courthouse about 5 months ago but desired to be married by a pastor. Ang worked with Gloria N. who referred her to my husband- we got together for at least six weeks and presented everything we could think of from the Scriptures on marriage and this couple just seemed to soak it all in!!!! The wedding went very well, God blessed with an absolutely gorgeous day for a lakeside wedding. We got to stay a short time for food at the reception and then it was off to tear down the display and put everything back in order at Haven, quick clean the church and then off to do our usual weekly side job cleaning my daughter Sarah’s office- we usually do that on Friday night but with the Conference we had something much better to do that night:) What do you think, was that not a FULL DAY???
I do want to take a little space here to thank all of you folks who attended LVBC’s Gospel Meetings Sept 12-15th. My husband & I were both very much encouraged by everyone while we were down there and the love offering was soooo generous that we can now say that the Lord has allowed us after 32 years of marriage to be debt-free!! This is such a blessing as those of you who know our testimony know that Satan had us on a materialistic merry-go- round which we started to get off of when we were saved back in 1982 but it took selling our house that we majorly couldn’t afford and continued with the Lord providing less expensive houses not once but twice!!!! I am thinking of calling in to Dave Ramsey’s radio show but we still need to get past my son’s need for a working vehicle either by replacing his transmission with one from a junk yard – a scary thought- OR buying another vehicle- which could be an even scarier thought and I really don’t want to get back into debt; SO, would you join us in praying for this need?
As I stated earlier our Fall meetings went well(2 first time visitors). Please pray that we will see growth at HBC and that John and Angela will follow through with the 4 week Salvation study and come out to church. (Neither of them has been in any church recently)
Thanks for taking the time to read this and for praying for Haven Baptist Church and the Gable family.
We love you all,
Sue for the Gables
